STIMULATION INTERVENTION PROGRAMME (SIP)
SIP reaches children between 3 to 6 years. SIP is an intervention
designed to provide a comprehensive teaching and caring facility
to young children who otherwise would remain cognitively under-stimulated.
Poor early childhood stimulation is known to contribute toward academic
under-performance in later years. SIP attempts to strengthen learning
foundations through accurate and child friendly cognitive stimulation.
SIP prepares the young child for school.
SIP
is implemented at two levels. The Promise Shishukendra is a model
pre-school that caters to the needs of 30 children in an urban slum
in South Bangalore. At the second level, the SIP methodology is
disseminated through our SIP Training Programmes for anganwadi workers
(pre-school teachers) and other child care professionals.
